With a preface by Pascal Buffard (Managing Director of Axa France Services, Director of CIGREF), this work is intended for Information System (IS) decision makers (functional directors, ISD, business managers etc.) as well as those involved in IS (functional architects, planners, developers etc.). The result of the work carried out over the last three years by the members of the URBA-EA Club, it covers the role of planning in IS management and planning processes. Its objectives are: 

• to help IS departments and general management to gain a clearer view of the goals and constraints of the planning approach
• to present the planning processes as a whole
• to make the link between "planning and governance" on one side and "planning and projects" on the other
• to highlight the value provided by planning.
