“From business strategy to information systems”... this is the title chosen for the book by René Mandel. This work has just been published by Hermès.
The catalogue describes it as 304 pages in the "Management and IT" collection.
It is the result of a long gestation period. Writing a “serious” book is not straightforward, even when you are fired up by your ideas. You must still question everything, put it in order, illustrate your ideas and eliminate clichés.
Ever since the first ideas for the “Business Framework” were planted, the construction of the book has grown in strength. It gives a full “tour of the building”, in the spirit of the famous economist F. Bastiat (1801-1850): “You are like architects disputing over a monument, when each has only seen one side. It’s not that they are seeing wrongly, but they are not seeing all of it. To make them agree, you simply need to give them a tour of the building”.
The book deals with the development of economic activity, how it is no longer interwoven, value chains etc., as well as processes and information systems. It highlights the foundations on which all these systems are built.
An attempt to make a link between the dynamics of business and “service architectures”, via strategic management, process vision and IS planning.
